The 20th Anniversary Enhanced Edition
First created in 2006, ASTROLUX returns in 2026 with a newly enhanced edition prepared for re-release on YouTube. The new version preserves the film's original performances, music and imagination while extending its world with material that could not be realized at the time.
The Missing Newscast
A newly created news report will reveal that an unidentified android has been struck down in a hit-and-run accident—a missing story beat now being realized with modern AI filmmaking tools.

How ASTROLUX began
A creator’s statement by Evet Socrates.
ASTROLUX originally started with the concept of making a music “video album” with dialogue and a story. I took four basic songs I had done for my 2005 demo and built concept and story ideas around them.
The name “Astrolux” just suddenly registered, as in “Star Light.” Astrolux is the name of a light-therapy device in the future that draws on emissions from space. The central character, Desmond Livix, uses its features to calculate a “Timebridge” that will enable his mind to travel to other times.
PROTEUS is the name of a futuristic internet artificial intelligence, or “Worldmind”—agentic AI with VR input and controls. Throughout the movie, we see vignettes revolving around the Earth having been hit by a comet and facing catastrophe.
I introduced the TELEAZURICS—the “high priests of the Proteuscore”—as described by Professor Brixtus, Desmond’s mentor, shortly before he disappeared; the Vizon Elite, a military-tech combine; and Rigillia the Mystic, an oracle.
I used my instrumental song “Proteus” as the vehicle for the Proteuscore sequence. Desmond enters the core with his mind and gains access to the very heart of the machine.
This complex sequence leads to the Astrolux Timebridge calculation, based on an actual idea: using star spectrae of various redshifts to calculate coordinates to a past point in time. The concept was so abstract that it could be realized only through text and digital imagery.
The film concludes with the “Expose” and Evet’s “3 Keys” demonstration, where Evet Socrates communes with the Teleazurics through music and the use of “Fractal Phrasing.”

The Next Evolution
From cult vision to major motion picture
ASTROLUX was conceived before many of its ideas entered everyday life. Artificial intelligence, synthetic personalities, mediated reality, global crisis broadcasts and the uneasy fusion of humanity with technology now feel less like distant speculation and more like the world outside our windows.
The long-term goal is to develop ASTROLUX into a major motion picture: expanding its characters, mysteries, music and prophetic concepts into a full-scale cinematic experience for a contemporary audience.
The 20th Anniversary Enhanced Edition serves both as a celebration of the original independent film and as a renewed proof of concept for what ASTROLUX could become.
